Yes,but it is responsive and purposeful. As a qualified primary teacher, the facilitator offers: • English and maths support when it is meaningful • Guidance and scaffolding when a child is ready • Learning opportunities connected to children’s interests There are no tests, grades, or pressure to perform.

It means: • Children have choice and voice in their learning • Adults do not use rewards, punishments, or threats • Behaviour is understood as communication • Boundaries are held through respect and relationship Children are supported to develop autonomy, responsibility, and self-regulation.

We prioritise emotional safety above all else. This includes: • Predictable routines without rigid expectations • A calm, low-stimulus environment • Respect for a child’s pace and capacity • Opportunities to rest, observe, or opt out • Strong, trusting relationships There is no pressure to “catch up” or perform.

Wild Roots is led by an experienced, qualified primary teacher with experience supporting children with diverse needs. The adult’s role is to facilitate learning, hold safety, and build relationships — not to control or coerce.

Wild Roots runs with low adult-to-child ratios to ensure children are well supported. As numbers grow, additional trusted adults will be introduced gradually and thoughtfully.

Wild Roots is not a registered school and is designed to support home-educated children and those unable to attend school. Families remain responsible for their child’s education.
